Sketches

Now go back to the bg copy layer, or whichever layers you did your sketches on and erase the sketch completely leaving only the lineart behind (which is on the top layer)

And easy way to erase the sketch is to go the second layer ( or which ever layer you sketched on) and press Ctrl+A,to select the whole canvas and then press delete, either on the menu or on your keyboard. Now your sketch is gone :3

TIP

if you really what to enhance your lineart try thickening the corners of image. I personally don’t use this technique too often because if is pretty tedious but if u want to you can try and the end result is pretty neat.

I cannot tell u where exactly to thicken the lines, it is usually a judgement call but 2 rules u can follow.

1. darken lines opposite of the light source. For example in this picture the light source is coming from the right, Hence most of the the thicker lines are on the left.

2. Darken corners and curves on the picture. As the arrows point I have darken bends and corners.

REMEMBER

You have to this, the lineart on the top layer. Because it is very easy to forget and accidentally do it on the second or last layer. If you this you will be very very screwed.

When I’m done, it looks likes this. now I may not use guidelines when I’m sketching but as u cans ee i’m pretty use to drawing without them and as my skills evolved I have eventually become better and better at using my perspective and determining how and where things should be, so everything looks balanced. ( OK so a few thigns are OBVIOUSLY OFF but I’m just saying compared to my artwork a few years ago I’ve gotten use to not using guidelines). If you are comfortable with them PLEASE use them. o_O

Now when you are done with all that I hope you have NOT USED The brush tool to erase ur lines, because when you are ready to color the following will happen.

You need to switch to the second layer in order to color. The whole point of layers is to make coloring much easier for you. You can color and not overlap the lineart you so tediously worked to do. BUT if u used the brush tool to erase the strokes where u erased will show up when u color. therefore screwing the picture up >:0.

BUT if you use the erase tool the strokes where u erased will never show. :D
