Joseph and Yusra are fictional characters from a story that’s been stuck in my head.. going 7 years now. Joseph is Jewish and Yusra is Muslim. They became friends through a telepathic connection that allowed them to communicate with each other over long distances. They weren’t aware of the religious identity when they first met as children. Now grown up they swore they would still be friends no matter what. Joseph is very protective of Yusra as well. These illustrations play around with the idea of a bitter sweet forbidden friendship.
