Sketch on this layer

Always erase with white

1. First do your sketch on the bg layer. Some people like doing detailed sketches before they do their lines or some people like me just do a rough sketch before lineart arting depends on what you want.
use light colors like like blue to do your sketch

Use this with white to lighten

lower opacity below 100

Stay on this layer

2. After you finish your sketch you need to prep it for the final lineart. you need to see the sketch whilst your doing your final outline so you know what you are doing. So use either the rectangle tool (color white) or rectangle erase and lower the opacity .In this example I used the rectangle tool and the opacity of it is A45

Always erase with white

use the watercolor tool
 &
put the opacity to A245

1. Let use another sketch as an example. You see how light the sketch is? Now I can comfortably lineart without distraction. Don’t kill your eyes by making it too light xD

Stay on  this layer

Always erase with white

2. Now you Must switch to the Fg layer and ensure that you stay there all the way!

When doing the lineart it is reocmmended you use the watercolor tool and set the opcacity between A241 & A250. A245 what I usually use

Doing watercolor lines is a very tedious job. You must continually repeat your lines until they get thick enough like shown in the illustration. The left side of the face which is incompleted is what the line would look with only one stroke. The right side of the face which is more defined is the result of 3-5 overlapping strokes. The more overlapping you do the thicker the lines will be

3. After about an hour or so xD depending on how quickly, neatly and carefully you work your final lineart will look like this!

Always erase with white. ALWAYS

4. I Cannot stress how important it is to always use the erase tool to erase. Many people usually use watercolors or solids to erase and set the color to white. However when doing layers the white will act as a color show up on top of the bg layer where you are suppose to color.

To ensure you didn’t do this subconsciously do this I recommend you switch to the bg layer and flood it with a color. As you can see the lineart remains perfect without any white spots. Now you know are ready to color :)

1. Fwee now it’s time to color.I can’t teach you exactly to shade and color but I can help you a bit with a few tips you should know especially if you’re using watercolors

You should start with the bg because it will be below your character/object. That way you don’t have to struggle to color around the object you can just color through it making your bg more realistic

 Use this layer to color

2. When coloring your character don’t use the fill tool( unless you are using solids)
When using watercolors you need to color the long way. I recommend when laying down a base color use the watercolor tool at A250.(after laying down the base color u may change the opacity) or you can use the sold is tool but it comes out a bit more sloppy. In the picture I’ve completed I colored in the staff’s crescent using the solids tool. As you can see I had a hard time keeping in the lines and it’s very noticeable
